This series, called “Neurons in Love”, is named for the intimacy of neuronal contact. Neurons make connections via synapses which can be excitatory or inhibitory – but either way, they are direct, intimate connections.

Leila Currah is an American artist presently living in England. She is an artist in The School of Reductionism and has studied closely with master artist E.J. Gold for over a decade. She also has a BSc in Neuroscience from UCLA, and is especially interested in the potential for art to facilitate an emotional awakening in the public to the wonders of science. She works part-time as a Research Assistant in the Department of Neurology at the University of Oxford.
