This mural was ridiculously fun to paint, because a) I love Hawaiian flowers and foliage and b) it all unfolded without any major plan. I painted the banana tree first, then the plumeria tree on the far right, and then continued to add to the painting whatever seemed like it would fit in. I think the hibiscus were next, then the palm. Eventually, the ferns and the orchids and the butterflies appeared, too.
I don’t know how I got lucky enough to love what I do and get paid for it, but somehow it happened.
