Very happy that my Bob Marley painting is up at Jamroc in Encinitas, the best Jamaican restaurant in town! I think Bob is happy, too.
It’s beginning to seem like I talk nearly as much about food on my art blog as I do art, but Jamroc has great food and it’s worth mentioning!
The restaurant is located in Encinitas, California, on the 101 just off Encinitas Blvd and only a couple of blocks from the ocean. Visit their website to see the whole menu or get directions: http://www.jamroc101.com/
My husband and I had lunch here last weekend to visit my painting, and the food was killer.
I can definitely recommend getting the roti skin if you order the rasta-rap. The meal is essentially a tortilla wrap sandwich, except if you order the roti skin, you get the contents wrapped in a thin, slightly flaky, unleavened stoneground bread. Unusual, and super yummy.
The jerk pork combo plate was delicious, too, and authentic, yes! We had the steamed rice and vegetables, so it felt quite healthy overall, or at least helped to off set the other fried goodies, the plantain and festival. A festival is another unusual treat, similar to a hush puppy, basically a deep-fried corn bread. Mmmm mm!
